School will be starting soon and there are many students that will be getting their first car. A base model used 2014 Ford Fiesta is very fuel efficient. It has 120 horsepower and gets roughly 43 mpg on the highway and 31 in the city from a 1.0L 3-cylinder engine. The exterior has a sleek and modern design while the interior offers a clean and organized look perfect for any student. The next car we chose is the 2014 Ford Focus, which starts off at around $13,000 with less than 50,000 miles. This car sells for around $35,000 new so getting a used one at around half the price is a great deal. The Focus is a bit more comfortable to drive than the Fiesta on long drives since it has a bigger 2.0L 4-cylinder engine which pushes out 160 horsepower. The 4-cylinder engine gives this car 37 mpg on the highway and 27 in the city. The interior is also slightly larger which makes it great for a road trip during vacation time. If you can stretch your budget, we would highly recommend the 2015 Ford Fusion. This sedan has 3 different engine options depending on how much fuel efficiency and power you want. The 1.5L engine produces 175 horsepower and gets up to 34 mpg on the highway. The 2.5L engine pushes out 231 horsepower and gets up to 31 mpg on the highway. With options for leather seats, Eco Mode and a Sync3 infotainment system which allows you to connect your phone to your car, this is a great choice for a student that has a bit more cash to spend. Ford offers many great vehicles for students that are looking to purchase their first vehicle. While a new car may be out of budget for a first-time buyer, used cars from Elk Grove Ford are just as good.
