If you’re looking to buy a used car before 2015 ends, then you’re in luck! This Christmas will afford you plenty of opportunities to buy a great used car. In fact, now is a particularly advantageous time of year to buy a high-quality car, truck, SUV or minivan because of the great vehicle deals and rebates available—that is, if you know where to look and what to ask for. With that in mind, Auto Publishers will arm you with some basic facts to prepare you to go used car shopping this holiday season. While November is typically a slow month for dealerships, the auto industry recently enjoyed one of its best-ever Black Friday sales periods. Therefore, many dealers will be motivated to keep the positive sales momentum going by offering deep discounts on its used car inventory. Dealerships are always eager to rid themselves of their older inventory in order to make room for the newer models. Therefore, this is the ideal time to find the right price on the make and model you want. People often associate the Christmas holiday with bells and whistles, and auto companies are keeping up with bells and whistles of their own in the form of new vehicle features like Internet connectivity and assisted parking. Indeed, new vehicle features and low auto loan interest rates are two key factors that will help the auto industry enjoy a merry holiday sales season while many retailers will likely struggle, says Michael Exstein of financial services company Credit Suisse. This also helps make Christmastime the right time to purchase or lease a used car. Edmunds found that millennials favor used vehicles, particularly those that are out of production and deemed family friendly. Among the most popular used vehicle models for millennials include the Dodge Magnum, the Chrysler Pacifica and the Pontiac Aztek, all of which are no longer produced. In total, six of the 10 used vehicles most popular among millennials are no longer manufactured. Affordability and practicality are just two key reasons that discontinued used vehicles are popular among car buyers aged 18-34. When they do gravitate toward luxury vehicles with all the latest technological advances, millennials tend to lease as opposed to buy. In this instance, thinking like a millennial may help you find the right deal on a used car. Keep in mind that no two dealerships in your area will offer the same Christmas specials, even if they happen to sell much of the same inventory. So be sure to research vehicle prices to find the best used car value. Also, read the fine print to determine whether you’re really getting the best price possible on your used vehicle. Finally, don’t be afraid to wait too long to purchase your vehicle, but don’t wait too long before the cream of the crop cars have already been taken. Doing all of this can help you save thousands!
