Purchasing a new car can be a confusing task these days. With thousands of makes and models available, it can be difficult to tell which ones are good for you. If you don’t have anything in mind then filtering through hundreds of listings a day can become a hassle. An easier way to pick out a car is to choose one which is already popular among most drivers. Edmunds put together a list of the most popular cars of 2016 and we’ll be helping you choose one. If you are looking for a compact car then Edmunds chose the Honda Civic and for good reason. Starting at $18,000 the Civic is a great choice if you are looking for style, reliability and great gas mileage. The Civic LX has a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine which produces 158 horsepower and gets up to 41 mpg on the highway. The interior has a modern feel with a navigation and center infotainment system which is Bluetooth enabled. This allows you to connect your phone so you can listen to your music, making it perfect for long drives. When choosing a midsize car, Honda wins again with their Accord. The 2016 Accord starts off at $22,000 and is great for a taller person that needs more space. The interior is much more spacious than the Civic and it would make for a great road trip car. The Accord LX has a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine that produces 185 horsepower and gets up to 37 mpg on the highway, which is not too much lower than the Civic. The Accord also comes with a navigation system and infotainment system that can be connected to your phone. The Honda CR-V won first place for the top compact crossover SUV, making Honda one of the most popular brands in the US among most car types. The CR-V is great when you need a compact SUV that has the space for a family trip. Starting at $23,000 the CR-V LX has an engine like the Accord LX which is a 4-cylinder and produces 185 horsepower. The CR-V gets 33 mpg on the highway which is great for an SUV. One of the few categories that Honda did not make the list was sports cars. The Ford Mustang beat the rest when choosing the most popular entry level sports car. This is not surprising since the new Mustangs are the first models ever to have a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine option. The Mustang EcoBoost which starts at $25,000, comes with a 2.3L engine that produces 310 horsepower and gets up to 31 mpg on the highway. If you are looking for more power then you can get the Mustang GT which pushes out an impressive 435 horsepower and has a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds! Overall, the Honda brand has been winning in most categories. There are many more cars available for view on Edmunds if you have other categories in mind such as top luxury sedan, premium sports cars and trucks.
