Toyota has been known for many years to manufacture great cars that are affordable as well as dependable. Whether a person is trying to buy a brand new or used car, a Toyota is a great choice for those that want a car that will not give them many problems, and last long enough to pass down to their children. When looking at AutoTrader.com, Cheatsheet.com and other websites that rank vehicles based on reliability, Toyota brands almost always make up 50% of the list. Since Scion and Lexus are Toyota brands, these cars are included in the lists. If you are looking for a new or used truck, a Toyota Tacoma or Tundra would be a great choice. Not only are they very affordable, but they also have great gas mileage and tend to be extremely reliable. An example of this is the “Million Mile Tundra” which was found in 2012. A man named Victor Shepard purchased a Toyota Tundra which was originally built in San Antonio, Texas. He was able to put an average of 125,000 miles on the Truck every year by driving it from Louisiana to North Dakota, Wyoming, and Virginia for his work. This truck was displayed at the Texas State Fair in Dallas. When the car was inspected, Toyota officials stated that the truck still had its original engine, transmission as well as paint. Victor traded in his Tundra after it hit a million miles and now Toyota plans on taking the vehicle apart to see how it was able to last such as long time. “Our team plans to tear down the entire truck, bumper-to-bumper, top-to-bottom to evaluate how the quality and safety we designed, engineered and built into the Tundra has held up to over one-million miles of real-world driving ... ” said Mike Swers, the chief truck engineer for the Toyota Technical Center. This is not the first time a Toyota has been known to be very reliable and rack up many miles. In 2013 Forbes published an article listing the top cars known to last over 250,000 miles and in this list more than half of the vehicles were either Toyota, Scion or Lexus which all use Toyota engines. This goes to show that when you want to purchase a reliable vehicle, there are not many car manufacturers out there that can compete with the reliability that a Toyota vehicle has to offer. Whether you are looking for a new or used car, for work or for personal use, a Toyota will always be a great buy.
