Supercharged and as pretty as they come, the 2019 Range Rover Velar is sure to make the dreams of every SUV shopper come true. This year’s model is a part of the same generation that Land Rover introduced last year. Changes to the Velar include increasing the fuel capacity of the V6 engine from 15.6 gallons to 21.6 gallons and making its air suspension system standard for the vehicle model.
In developing the Velar, Michael van der Sande, the Land Rover SVO Managing Director, said, “We created an SUV that strikes a brilliant balance between go-anywhere practicality, dynamic performance and relaxing comfort – it truly is an SUV for any occasion.”
The 2019 Velar is available in four trim levels. The base model comes with plenty of features including a zippy turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 247 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, buyers will appreciate the smooth engine transitions. The base model is also equipped with all-wheel drive. Standard features include 18-inch wheels, two 10-inch infotainment touchscreens, and an eight-speaker sound system.
Moving up the trim ladder is the S. Buyers who upgrade to this model can choose from two engines – a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that produces 380 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque and a turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel-powered four-cylinder that generates 180 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The S trim has 19-inch wheels and advanced features like a power tailgate with hands-free operation and leather upholstery.
The R-Dynamic trim has a more aggressive exterior stance in addition to exclusive exterior trim. The inside is also a bit spiffier than the lower trim model with perforated leather and microfiber-suede seats along with entertainment upgrades. This trim has a completely digital display center and a 17-speaker Meridian sound system.
Those who go with the R-Dynamic HSE will have a Velar that looks a lot like the SE model, but this trim has 21-inch wheels. With this trim, buyers will have seats that massage as well as heat up and cool down, making it perfect for those who travel a lot. Land Rover is equipping the HSE with all of its safety features like high-speed emergency braking and blind-spot assist.
Along with plenty of punch and power when accelerating, the Velar has a dependable braking system that is easy to operate. The brakes deliver confidence to the driver when dealing with intense traffic conditions. Land Rover designed the SUV with sensitive steering, and it has a comfortable amount of cargo space. Buyers can upgrade the SUV with a towing package, and since this is a Land Rover, it’s meant to go off-road.
The 2019 Range Rover Velar is an SUV for people who want to stand out on the road while having a vehicle that they’re comfortable driving every day.
