Auto manufacturers are stepping it up when it comes to developing the pickup trucks in their lineups. For instance, the Dodge Ram 1500 is not only a workhorse, but it is also a luxurious vehicle, making it a truck that’s designed for work and play. For 2019, Dodge decided to completely redesign the 1500 Ram. The most recent model is lighter, but it has an increased payload and even better towing capacity than earlier editions. It also has more space in the rear and a mild hybrid power system.
Dodge went all out in developing trims for the 1500 Ram by offering seven different ones. Standard equipment includes a 3.6-liter V6 engine. This engine generates 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Dodge partnered the engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is also standard as are automatic headlights. Ram buyers will get Bluetooth, a six-speaker audio system and a 5-inch touchscreen. An auxiliary audio jack and two USB inputs are also included.
When it comes to optional equipment, Dodge is offering goodies like heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel and rear parking sensors. Ram buyers can get leather upholstery, which is perfect for work vehicles since it’s easy to clean. Dual-zone climate control is another optional amenity as is a bigger touchscreen and larger wheels. Optional gear also includes a 5.7-liter V8 engine that gets 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.
Even in the basic Tradesman trim, the seats are comfortable and supportive. They have rear coil springs, and this element gives occupants a better ride than many other vehicles in the segment. The truck model features a nice dash design, one that’s convenient and user-friendly.
The Hemi V8 engine combined with the eight-speed automatic transmission is a match made in heaven. But, to make the truck even better, Dodge equipped it with confident steering, solid handling, and responsive braking. This super-powerful engine reached a speed of 60 miles per hour from zero in just 6.6 seconds when tested. The brakes performed well in testing too. During the panic-stop test, the brakes halted the vehicle from a speed of 60 miles per hour in 132 feet.
Out on the road, the 2019 1500 Ram feels perfectly connected to the pavement. The truck never feels skittish on the highway. The body motions are nicely controlled. Often, pickups feel unsteady when a driver takes them through dips or over rough terrain, but Dodge equipped the Ram with a coil spring rear suspension and combined it with a rear stabilizer bar that resolved this issue.
Truck buyers who choose a 2019 1500 Ram will be the owners of a pickup that will take them from the campsite to a fancy dinner with friends. Versatile and fine-riding, this truck is a smart investment.
