With its luxurious accessories and fine on-road handling, the 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser may seem like a distant cousin to the ones that first appeared on the market dating back to the 1950s, but those who take it off-road will find out differently. The newest incarnation of the Land Cruiser maintains its go-anywhere attitude.
In designing the exterior of the 2019 Land Cruiser, Toyota modernized it by adding sweeping lines and a more aerodynamic stance. It comes in classic colors like black, silver, and white. While some might lament about the lack of unique color options, the vehicle company’s decision to omit them adds style longevity to the Land Cruiser.
Toyota built the Land Cruiser using a sturdy body-on-frame construction, which is similar to a pickup truck. The vehicle also comes with full-time four-wheel drive and a powerful V8 engine. Not only does the SUV have these notable features, but it also comes with Toyota’s legendary reliability.
The 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser is an eight passenger SUV that is available in one amenity-rich trim level. Toyota is equipping the vehicle with a 5.7-liter V8 engine that generates 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. This engine is partnered with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
To make it the off-road beast that it is, Toyota gave the Land Cruiser a locking center differential, Crawl Control, and Multi-Terrain Select. It also comes with hill start assist, tow hooks, and skid plates in addition to the vehicle maker’s Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System.
The Land Cruiser handles itself as well on paved surfaces as it does off-road. In fact, the SUV lands near the top of its class in most of the performance categories. This is a big vehicle, but the engine is up to the task of powering it. When tested, the Land Cruiser went from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 7.4 seconds. Along with this, the gas pedal responses are easy to assess, making it a breeze for drivers to maintain a smooth traveling speed.
When designing the 2019 Land Cruiser, Toyota gave the brakes plenty of power. Drivers should expect to press down firmly when engaging them though. The company designed the brakes this way to smooth out braking when drivers take the vehicle off-road or when they’re towing. It’s a great feature for off-road adventures, but drivers will need to anticipate the extra effort required to activate them on the regular roadway.
The inside of the vehicle is comfortable. Toyota designed the seats to offer plenty of support. The SUV also has heated and cooled front seats, with heated back seats as well.
Those who buy the 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser will never know the pain and inconvenience of getting stuck in the snow. This is the kind of vehicle that just keeps going. It offers durability, a pleasant driving experience, and plenty of class.
