The 2019 Volvo XC40 Combines Thrills and Safety

After mastering vehicle safety, Volvo has shifted its focus to styling according to its recent SUV lineup. The 2019 Volvo XC40 is one of the carmakers new SUVs, one that is as fun to look at as it is safe to drive. This mid-size SUV comes with all the advanced technology and comfort of Volvo’s large SUV while bringing a few new features to the table.

When it comes to looks, the Volvo XC40 is clean and sharp. It has the classic good looks of a Volvo combined with its own unique styling features. For instance, the front end is slightly curved in instead of rounded like the larger models are. The SUV’s lighting elements sweep back into the fenders, and it has visually pleasing lines that give it a sporty appearance.

The quality design of the 2019 Volvo XC40 extends into the cabin, which is just as clean and sharp as the exterior. A 9-inch vertical infotainment system fills the center of the dashboard. The SUV also comes with a 12.3-inch digital driver display to let drivers know the status of their SUV at all times. Volvo made a clever move and shifted its audio speakers out of the doors and placed them in other areas. This allowed the auto company to give today’s car buyers the kind of storage they need by increasing the size of the compartments that are beneath the SUV’s armrests. The new storage areas are large enough to hold a laptop as well as large bottles of water.

In the United States, the first XC40 model that will be for sale is the T5. It comes with a 4-cylinder engine that produces 248 horsepower. It is turbocharged, so it will give drivers plenty of zip on the road, and it also has an 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV’s handling and steering is precise. It comes with Eco, Comfort, Off-Road and Dynamic driving modes. Each mode changes how the vehicle shifts, accelerates and brakes.

As with all Volvos, the 2019 XC40 is well-equipped in the safety category. In this case, the vehicle comes with an emergency automatic braking system, a steering collision mitigation system and lane keep assist. It also has a standard rearview camera. Buyers can add safety features like blind-spot monitoring, a surround view camera system and self-parking.

The vehicle’s cargo space measures 20.7 cubic feet when the rear seats are up. It extends to 47.2 cubic feet when the seats are down. Volvo’s XC40 also provides a comfortable amount of legroom. Front seat occupants will enjoy 40.9 inches of legroom while those in the back have 36.1 inches.

Along with offering buyers the safety features that Volvo is known for, the 2019 Volvo XC40 is an SUV that is exhilarating to drive and practical to own.
