The 2019 Jeep Renegade is the smallest jeep in the automaker’s line up, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t as much of it to love. The Renegade is every bit as lovable as the other Jeeps; it just comes in a smaller package.
Jeep brought the model out in 2015, making the 2019 model the fifth iteration. With a boxier appearance than some of the other jeep models, the Renegade stands out. Those who upgrade to the Trailhawk trim level will have a subcompact SUV that’s more capable of going off-road than any of its competitors while the interior design comes with tons of character.
The 2019 Jeep Renegade is available in four trims. The base model is affordable, but amenities are pretty sparse. The Latitude edition offers a bit more with features like alloy wheels, privacy glass and roof rails. It also has dual-zone climate control and a 7-inch touchscreen. Buyers who upgrade to the Limited trim will have a subcompact SUV with 18-inch wheels, a more advanced driver information display screen and a 40/20/40-split folding backseat. The Trailhawk trim comes with all-terrain tires, hill descent control and upgraded cloth upholstery. Buyers can purchase the model with leather upholstery and an 8.4-inch touchscreen.
Every Renegade can be equipped with a full-size spare tire. Choosing this feature eliminates the underfloor storage bin, but having a full-size spare is sure to be appreciated when a flat tire occurs. Each trim can also be equipped with removable sunroof panels, and all but the base can be upgraded with a nine-speaker Beats stereo.
With the Renegade, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is standard. This engine generates 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The top two trims can be upgraded with a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine, one that gets 177 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque. Jeep is outfitting the Renegade with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Renegade provides adequate acceleration and awesome braking. Along with this, the vehicle’s handling is precise, and drivers who want to take it off-road will appreciate how well it handles unpredictable road conditions.
The interior of the Renegade is comfortable with supportive seats and the kind of tech features that car buyers are starting to expect. This includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration as well as optional safety gear like lane keeping assist, automatic parking and adaptive cruise control.
Drivers will love the upright windshield because it provides an expansive view of the road. The SUV also has big mirrors and a rearview camera for parking assistance.
The 2019 Jeep Renegade is a peppy little subcompact SUV, one that features unique exterior styling and plenty of creature comforts inside. Those who opt for the Renegade will love zooming around town in it.
